nice things people have said…

“As an independent artist embarking on my first legitimate solo album release, Joy offered excellent creative ideas as well as sound logistical and planning strategies. Her years of experience as an artist herself is truly evident and gave me the sense that this was more than just coaching, it was mentorship.”When doing the solo artist thing can feel like going it alone, I can’t put a price on the confidence and courage it gave me to feel like I had someone on my team. Joy also helped me think outside of the box and apply meaningful aspects of my artistic self to the business side of my career. She is professional and a clear communicator. I would highly recommend Joy to any other independent artists!”

Shireen Amini, Singer-Songwriter (Portland, OR)

“Before I met with Joy, I was feeling scatterbrained. I had multiple complex questions I was wrestling with, but it felt like I was covering the same ground over and over again. Joy's words opened up new pathways for me. She observed foundational connections I hadn't seen. She suggested excellent ideas that hadn't occurred to me. After our call, I feel clarity about the work I need to do, and I feel a new invigoration to continue my work as an artist.”

Ben Johnson, Composer

“I am grateful for the way Joy can go back to the beginnings of her story as an artist and meet emerging artists where they are, sharing generously from what she’s learned in different stages of the journey. I also appreciate her insights and transparency about important topics such as upholding confidence, authenticity, and self-care through the process of growing as an artist.”

Stephanie Oguine, Singer-Songwriter, Recording Artist (Los Angeles, CA)

“Joy is one of my most trusted voices in the music business. Anytime there was a topic that we wanted covered on the Bandzoogle blog to help musicians navigate their careers, I would always look to Joy for her insight.”

Dave Cool, Director of Artist & Industry Outreach, Bandzoogle

Joy asked all the right questions to help me identify both what I hoped to get from my musical career as well as what tangible next steps I could take to get me closer to said goal. She sets an excellent standard for what it means to be a musician in community and an artist with a mission and purpose.

James Colten
Singer/Songwriter, The Midnite Snacks (Washington, D.C)

“Grassrootsy [Joy’s music business blog] was one of my favorite resources for musicians. I loved Joy's posts not just because she is a great writer, but her advice is so practical and based in the real world. Joy's advice for artists is so valuable because it is based in her own real experiences, hard work and thoughtful analysis. I'd hire Joy as a coach in a heartbeat!”

Peri Pakroo, Founder, Publisher, & Editor, Pyragraph

"Joy was one of the first regular contributors to the IOTM blog. Her content was always spot on and topics varied showing how immense her knowledge base and experience was in the industry. We still share her posts with IOTM members on a regular basis which is a testament to how timeless and practical her advice is."

Kyle Weber, Founder & Owner, Indie On the Move
